Ex-13. If the sum of two numbers is 14 and multiplication is 40, then find their difference.
Solution:-
Let the 1st no = x, and 2nd no = y
A/Q, x + y = 14
and xy = 40
We know that formula,
( x - y )2 = ( x + y )2 - 4xy
( x - y )2 = 142 - 4 * 40
( x - y )2 = 196 - 160
x - y = √36
x - y = 6 Ans.
