Ex-12. The sum of two numbers is 39 and their different is 15, then find the numbers.
Solution:-
Let the 1st no = x, 2nd no = y
A/Q,
x + y = 39 -------eq(i)
x - y = 15 --------eq(ii)
Sum of eq(i) + eq(ii)
Or, 2x = 54
Or, x = 27
Now, putting the value of x in eq(i)
x + y = 39 ---eq(i)
27 + y = 39
y = 39 - 27
y = 12
Hence,
x = 27, y = 12 Ans.
