The difference between square of two numbers is 256000 and sum of the numbers is 1000 the numbers are:
(A) 628, 372 (B) 600, 400
(C) 640, 330 (D) None of these
Soln:-
Let the 1st number = x
and 2nd number = y
Difference between square of the numbers = 256000
x2 - y2 = 256000 ----------- (i)
And Sum of the numbers = 1000
x + y = 1000 ----------(ii)
From equation ( i )
x2 - y2 = 256000
(x + y) (x - y) =256000
10000 (x - y) = 256000
x - y = 256000 / 1000
x - y = 256 -------(iii)
Addind Eq (ii) And Eq (iii)
x + y + x - y = 1000 + 256
2x = 1256
x = 628
Putting the value of x in equation (ii)
x + y = 1000
628 + y = 1000
y = 1000 - 628
y = 372
Hence 1st no = x = 628 and 2nd number = y =372 Ans
